Lasting Powers of Attorney

A lasting power of attorney is a legal document which allows you to choose someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf about things such as your property and financial affairs, or your health and welfare at the time in the future when you no longer wish to make these decisions or when you may lack the mental capacity to make them. There are two types of lasting power of attorney: a health and welfare lasting power of attorney and a property and financial affairs lasting power of attorney.

Before a lasting power of attorney can be activated, it must be registered by the Office of the Public Guardian. The procedure involved can appear complicated and we are able to guide you through the whole process, from discussing which type of lasting power of attorney would be appropriate for you through to completing the registration at the Office of the Public Guardian.
